Starbase 777 played host to the yearly conference of PACT Galactica - a mass gathering of people from numerous different worlds and factions designed to discuss politics, art, commerce, and technology. Weeks of set-up was done beforehand to ensure the successful running of the two weeks of events and officers worked non-stop in order to keep things running smoothly for their countless merchants, politicians, and other visitors. Those aboard the starbase - both visitors and inhabitants alike - enjoyed events such as a lecture on subterfuge delivered by the Cardassian Union, the premier of a new Ferengi holonovel, a lecture by two Voth scientists from the Solanae Dyson Sphere, a commerce fair of small family-owned businesses, and a food court running daily.
Unfortunately as the days progressed there began to emerge complaints of theft being conducted. Security officers tracing the thief's movements soon found something more sinister, and what had appeared to be a stashed stolen good was revealed to be an explosive device. The explosion occurred within the northern promenade, killing six and majorly injuring twelve more including a Klingon politician. Starfleet crew jumped into action to get visiting civilians evacuated safety, to conduct damage control and start immediate repairs, and also to apprehend the bomber. The convict was successfully apprehended by Security and Tactical but in the interest of safety, PACT Galactica 2412 was cancelled and all visitors were evacuated by Starfleet crafts.
An average day on the station was underway when an alert came through informing that a Borg probe had settled directly on the Station's doorstep. 777 and the Eventide crew jumped into action, as ready as they possibly could be for this short-notice arrival. It was to everyone's surprise that the Borg - instead of attacking - actually requested assistance. It was revealed that they required Starfleet's help to retrieve an Undine bioship which had become lodged in a dangerous nebula, the nebula noted for releasing electrical discharges at random intervals.
The USS Eventide was deployed to assist despite being sceptical of the Borg's intent. The crew had to wrangle with their own fears as a Borg drone was invited aboard the bridge to assist them in the navigation through the nebula - but after an intense journey, they managed to secure the Undine bioship. Unfortunately for Eventide's crew, the Borg's motive soon became clear as they snatched the Undine and their bioship, presumably with the intention of assimilating it. A bout of space combat broke out but the Borg managed to escape with their prize, making a swift retreat to the delta quadrant -- and the crew were left wondering what might happen with the Borg now in possession a living Undine specimen.
Officers stationed aboard 777 were recruited by for a scientific exploration to a newly formed nebula. Upon entering the nebula, teams on the USS Viola and USS Sebastion came across multiple dead bodies surrounded by metal debris. The crews quickly began trying to piece together what could've happened. Aboard the Viola, the Commander noticed text on the uniform worn by one of the bodies, and sent an image of it to the polyglot comms officer aboard the Sebastion for translation. They found that the uniform read “Bright sun, powering all of Meridian". Deciding to investigate further, the Viola moved into the debris field until they came across a blinking light. Curious, they continued towards it until they realised it was an EMP defence mine.
The mine was triggered, causing both the Viola and Sebastion to lose control. The Viola's flight controls malfunctioned, causing it to plummet towards the nearby planet. Upon crashing, the a majority of the Viola's crew were injured and needed medical care. Some of the able-bodied crew went to try and look for shelter. Officers soon came across a pathway leading to a golden monument of a Ferengi giving the planet's native species a gift, as they bowed before them. Further up the path was a native village, which was very briefly investigated.
The USS Eventide, along with 32 shuttlecrafts, were deployed to rescue the missing crews after the comms officer on the Sebastion managed to get a distress signal through. Once in range, the Eventide along with the shuttles rescued the stranded Sebastion before sending a shuttlecraft down to the surface to retrieve the crew from the crashed Viola. Once back at Starbase 777 the injured were tended to by the medical officers from the USS Franklin, a hospital ship deployed by the Medical Fleet to assist the limited personnel aboard.
An electrical storm formed around 777 and the station was put on yellow alert as various systems including turbolifts, environmental controls, brig containment fields, and replicators began to malfunction. Engineering and Operations worked to fix everything as quickly as possible and restore Starbase 777 to normalcy. Wheatley was able to fix the environment controls before something worse could happen, while Alizati got shocked in the process of trying to help, which resulted in more people finding out that he is an android. Lt. JG. T’Lauk also managed to restore functionality to the universal translator. Officers such as Ughaz’udan, Stone, and T’Kata patrolled the station and had to deal with civilians refusing to go to quarters and teenagers shoplifting. Elsewhere, a handful of officers had to catch escaped pet epohhs.
In the brig a fight ensued between brig officers and a Nausicaan prisoner, and this was soon exacerbated by Section 31 prisoners also joining in the fight. The Chief of Security managed to detain the prisoners again, but not before the Nausicaan managed to stab Dagis who was also being held there. Ensign Allen assisted with first aid and the brig was soon restored to normalcy. Meanwhile, in the physics lab on the Research Ring, a team of scientists worked on a device to break up the storm and end the ensuing chaos. They quickly fabricated six devices to be distributed by shuttle, and did just that. A fleet of shuttles were sent out, and the devices were successfully deployed, breaking up the storm. Unfortunately for one pilot Lt. JG. Grey the mission resulted in a multitude of injuries as her shuttle was damaged which resulted in her undergoing treatment in sickbay – but thankfully, the mission was complete either way and the station’s functions returned to normal.
A disease arrived on the Starbase via two officers returning from a honeymoon and quickly spread among the crew. This disease affected key personality traits, effectively reversing them. The disease was discovered when Lt. JG. Renakir Torre'vnau and Ensign P'Nelar S'Tera visited sickbay due to Torre'vnau's concerns with S'Tera's behaviour. Due to multiple others beginning to exhibit behaviour against their normal personality, all non-essential crew were quarantined. Lt. Cdr. Dreaxa, Captain Mo, and Lieutenant M'ow held a conference to discuss their options, when a cure was developed by science officer Lt. JG. Nalas Za'ari, it was distributed through the station's ventilation systems to return everyone to normal.
For some time Starfleet had been working against Section 31, a counterintelligence organisation previously sanctioned by the Federation but later denounced for their crimes. When the location of three Section 31 bases of operations were uncovered, Starbase 777 crew were sent via the USS Eventide to conduct a raid on the base detected within the Celes Sector. Their primary goal was the destruction of the base by placing specialised explosive charges, but a series of kidnappings in the sector also led them to believe that there could be people being held within this base.
Using a cloaking device donated by friends from the Klingon Empire, the USS Eventide travelled to the Section 31 base and allowed two teams to beam over. These two groups planted four explosives each in locations which had been marked to destroy the base. However, this was no easy feat; Team One for example faced assaults from guards in EV suits who were difficult to take down, almost being suffocated, unconventional weapons, feral creatures, and telepathic mindscapes designed to lure the individual in. Team Two faced off against guards while placing their own explosives, came across a cache of trilithium, made good use of the base's recreational facilities to make smoothies, and curiously met a handful of agents who clearly weren't as notorious as Section 31 tended to be. Aboard the Eventide, officers had to fight back against a sleeper agent who was running rampage around the ship.
Despite the hardships, not only did the teams manage to successfully place their explosive devices, but they also managed to rescue all kidnapped civilians and upload masses of Section 31 data to the computer. Upon returning to the ship the crew were able to watch the base be remotely detonated and destroyed from the inside out -- the crew's mission having been a success.
It was a typical day on the station, starting off with a staff meeting called by Captain Mo. It also just so happened to coincide with a transport from Mol'Rihan with a peculiar merchant onboard.
Not even two minutes into the meeting, the power in the brig flickered and all of the prisoners were let loose. Some were petty criminals, but the former section 31 agents were also among their ranks and quickly began to run amok on the station! The senior staff was none the wiser to the situation as they quickly found out they had their own crisis on their hands. Whilst the station scrambled to subdue the escapees, the senior staff had to play along with the bomb's riddles to disable it. They were fighting against the clock and as if things couldn't get worse, a sleeping gas was released throughout the station and news of hidden bombs around the station was revealed. As the station erupted into pandemonium, the mastermind behind the chaos showed his face in the brig where he held his hostages in the now-vacant cells. The conductor of the whole operation was a Tal Shiar agent who tried to persuade two of his Romulan hostages to help him. Coincidentally the two Romulan hostages also had family ties to the Tal Shiar, but they were quick to prove their loyalty to Starfleet above all.
With all of this happening at the same time, it looked like the agent was going to escape with all of the information he had gathered from the station. The casualties were also quickly overwhelming medical, with a number of crew members injured after having come face to face with some of the escaped prisoners. However the crew of 777 proved themselves to be as strong as ever. Soon enough the senior staff were able to crack the bomb's riddles along with the engineering skills of none other than our station Commander, the station's newest science officer Lt. JG. Hartley dispersed the sleeping gas, OPS and engineering disabled and removed the bombs, and a number of brave officers pursued the Tal Shiar spy with the chase ending with the successful apprehension of said spy.
After the conclusion of the whirlwind of events, the Section 31 prisoners were transported to appropriate Federation holding facilities and life on the station returned to normal.
