- This species has a history with time travelling or universe/timeline-hopping. If your character is from any time period or timeline other than our own, they will be bound by the temporal prime directive. They will only be aware of our timeline and their home timeline - they cannot be aware of, nor share details on, any other alternate timelines.
- This species is allied with the Federation. If your character applied to Starfleet Academy before 2410, they will have required a letter of recommendation from a Starfleet officer ranked Commander or higher. If this was after 2410 (with the establishment of the Khitomer Alliance,) they could apply without the letter. Alternatively, your character can be an exchange officer or a total transfer from their home faction's forces. If you go with the latter, you must include why they chose to swap to Starfleet.
- This species is from the Delta Quadrant. In their backstory you will have to include detail of why and how they ended up in Starfleet, or if they are a civilian, how they ended up in the Alpha Quadrant in general.
