Starbase 777 was first constructed in the year 2376. A Spacedock-Type, it was designed to be a Starfleet outpost located in the Hromi Cluster, within the Xarantine Sector. This location was chosen due to it being sat at the fringes of Federation, Klingon, and Romulan space. The starbase is currently commanded by Captain Mephistopheles Mo, and its deputy commander is Commander Rii Pin Relem.
For the majority of its service Starbase 777 served its purpose solely as a standard spacedock - but with the foundation of the Khitomer Alliance in the year 2410 and 777 being in a prime location, in 2412 the station was selected to serve as a point of cultural exchange between Khitomer Alliance factions. Since then the station has been home not only to Starfleet officers or civilians, but also to members of other factions.
777's main purpose is to promote peaceful relations and cultural exchange between the species of allied factions. Additionally serving as a key point for fleet operations in the sector it acts as a spaceport, houses offices of both the JAG Corps and Diplomatic Corps, hosts state-of-the-art science and engineering facilities, comprises an extensive environmental ring replicating the forests of multiple planets, and has medical facilities spanning the size of a small hospital. Acting like a city in space, the station houses numerous civilian businesses to promote commerce and recreation for both civilians and staff aboard.
Both commissioned and enlisted Starfleet crew may find themselves being posted aboard the station. Additionally, 777 is also a common point for allies from the Khitomer Alliance to be sent on an exchange, so it frequently houses officers from the likes of the Romulan Republic or Klingon Empire. Civilians - family of officers assigned here, traders, or people looking to settle somewhere more unusual than a planet - are also more than welcome to find their home aboard Starbase 777.
Aboard Starbase 777 quarters are generally shared between two people. The exception tends to be families with multiple children, or for senior staff who do not have to share.
The living room acts as a shared communal area and then each officer has their own bedroom and bathroom. Upon arriving at their quarters for the first time, an officer will have all of the standard furniture but no ornaments or décor - it's up to them to decorate! The bed is always made with bedsheets corresponding to the colour of the officers' division, but they're free to change this if they so desire. Officers are also allowed to add their own furniture if it's small enough to fit.
